Even when I try not to make resolutions at the beginning of the year, I find my mind wandering to the subject. A temperament thing I guess, like making lists or being good at Excel.
I think it’s something to do with wanting to mark a moment; note progress perhaps? Acknowledge the time that has passed and can only be captured now in memory. Maybe it’s a largely vain attempt to put some structure around the unknown that is to come.
My resolutions are simple.
1. Grow as a writer.
2. Bring life to others and myself as a priest.
3. Enjoy the extraordinary richness of being alive.
4. Take nothing for granted.
Happy New Year! Let’s make it special.
